I don't know if this is going to make sense but here we go...

I have a graphic of a character for an rpg I'm making. It's a soldier but the problem is the uniform is the wrong color (it's red). I need to know how I can change where it's red in the image to another color while keeping the differences in the lightness/darkness of the colors. I can do it with blue by simply swapping the numerical values of the red for the blue in the RGB code of the colors but that won't work for other colors. Anyway, this hopefully makes sense. Can anyone help me?

I think I figured out how to do it. Tell me if this sounds right to you...

Use "Select Color Range" to select all the red and then use "Image/Adjust" to change the Hue. I tried it and it worked but I might need to change the color to black or white with shades of gray and I'm not sure if this would work for that.

I'm posting my solution to my problem for anyone who might read this message. To change the uniform color to either black or white I selected the color the same way as before but this time dropped the saturation to zero then adjusted the lightness up for white and down for black. It worked well enough I think.
